Beloit Daily News

On Saturday, the Snappers trailed 1-0 heading into the top of the ninth inning, but rallied for seven runs on eight hits and a 7-1 victory.

Fort Wayne starter Clark Girardeau and relievers Jake Upwood and Ryan Klatt had shut out Beloit for eight innings, but closer Aaron Coonrod couldn't shut the door.

Coonrod posted a strikeout but the next four Snappers reached saftely and he left when he scraped his arm trying to prevent a ball from going into the Snappers dugout. The Snappers continued to pound Chuck Bechtel for five hits and four runs in just 2/3 of an inning.

Beloit's Ken Durost allowed only three hits and no runs over the first 5 2/3 innings. Greg Kloosterman (1-0) allowed Fort Wayne's only run in the seventh, but picked up the win, going 3 1/3 innings.

Beloit collected 12 hits. Drew Anderson led the way, going 3 fo 5. Guilder Rodriguez and Vinny Rottino had two hits apiece.
