The South Bend SilverHawks made the most of their opportunities Tuesday night.
Four West Michigan errors and a wild pitch paved the way for South Bend to post a 3-2 victor over the WhiteCaps.
With their fourth straight one run triumph, the Hawks (10-2) maintain their three game lead over Lansing in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.
South Bend grabbed the lead in the third inning by capitalizing on a pair of miscues to score two runs.
Dan Firlit got the inning started by reaching on an error, stealing second and eventually scoring on a Tila Reynolds' RBI single.
Mike Gross, who reached safely on the second West Michigan error of the frame, came home with the second run on Jordan Tata's wild pitch.
The WhiteCaps scored in the bottom of the fifth as South Bend left Matt Chico (3-0) surrendered his first run of the season.
West Michigan pulled within a run in the sixth, but the duo of Ryan Coffin and Aric LeClair combined to slam the door by retiring the last seven batters in order.
LeClair struck out two over the final 1 2/3 innings to earn his second save.
Chico scattered seven hits and struck out three during his five inning stint, while Reynolds had two hits for the Hawks.
