The Kernels were on cruise control, leading 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning with pitcher Micah Posey (3-0) working on a one hit shutout (a second inning single by Wishy).
Posey struck out Wishy to open the seventh, but Grayson doubled to left field. Posey's shutout quickly turned into a 3-2 lead when Frostad slammed a home run over the second row of fences in right field with two outs. But Bob Zimmermann came in and struck out pinch hitter Brock Jacobsen to finish off the victory.
Frostad was Clinton's hitting star Thursday and has three hits in his most recent seven at bats, raising his average to .225.
"That was nice to see", Subero said, "We made a tiny adjustment and Frostad swung a lot batter. It's good to see him come out of his funk."
What wasn't so nice to see was Aaron Peel coming to home plate in the first game. Peel provided most of the Kernels offense with a pair of solo home runs. The first one was a wind aided shot that cleared the wall in right field with two outs in the fourth inning to put the Kernels ahead 2-0. The second was a long drive well past the left field wall to lead off the seventh inning.
"On the first one, I had two strikes and was trying to stay back and go the opposite way," said Peel, who has hit all four of his home runs this season against Clinton pitchers. "On the second one, I was looking fastball and hit it solid."
