The Cougars just couldnt get anyone out when they need to, that plus more mental errors cost the Cougars another victory. All three errors that they committed ont he scoreboard all resulted in the Chiefs putting another run on the board in the run column.
The Cougars would actually score the first run in the game, coming in the third inning. Vasili Spanos led things off with a double to right. Luis Perez grounded out to second, on the play Spanos moved to third. Brian Ingram then hit a sacrifice fly to left, to allow Spanos to score. In the fourth inning the Cougars would score two more runs. With one out Eddie Kim singled over the pitchers mound, it would've been in the infield but the ball hit second base, then jumped over the shortstop and the second baseman and went into centerfield. David Castillo doubled down the left field line, on the play Kim would get to third. Dustin Majewski singled through the pulled in infield to score Kim. Kory Wayment hit a sacrifice fly to center to allow Castillo to score.
Unfortunatly for the Cougars the Chiefs would score four times in the next half inning to take the lead. Tyler Parker led things off by being hit by a pitch. Ben Rosenthal singled to second, the reason it was a single was because of the bad hop it took. Matt Dryer then singled to left to load the bases. John Santor struck out for the first out. Kyle Boyer would fly to right. Anthony Monegan tripled to left to score Parker, Rosenthal and Dryer. The throw to the plate from Ingram went off the net behind the plate and Monegan would come around to score.
Another run for the Chiefs in the fifth. Cody Haerther singled to left. Terry Evans doubled to left to score Haerther. Parker flied to center, on the play Evans tagged and went to third. Rosenthal struck out for the second out. Dryer walked to put runners on the corners with two outs. The Cougars then made a pitching change. Manny Rodriguez came in and retired John Santor, having him fly to right to finally end the inning.
Kane County tied the game in the sixth at five. With one out David Castillo singled to left. Majewski then walked. Kory Wayment tripled to center to score both Castillo and Majewski. After that the Chiefs made a pitching change bringin in James Mondesir, Spanos would be hit by a pitch. Peres grounded into an inning ending double play.
Peoria wouldn't stop scoring in the sixth they scored another run to break the tie.Kyle Boyer singled to right. Monegan would strike out. Brenden Ryan reached on an error by third baseman Brian Snyder. Haerther then singled to left to score Boyer. In the seventh they would scored one more and almost a lot more than that. Rosenthal lead off with a walk. Matt Pagnozzi came on to run for him. A wild pitch would move Pagnozzi along to second. Dryer singled to right. Santor would reach on an error by second baseman Luke Appert, the play Appert bobbled the grounder. Rosenthal would score on the error. Boyer put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners along. Monegan then hit one back to the pitcher, he would throw home to get Dryer. Ryan struck out to end the inning.
David Castillo lead off the eighth with a singled to left. Majewski then popped out to second. Wayment doubled to right getting Castillo to third. Peoria then made another pitching change. Danny Gibbons came on to pitch hit for Spanos. He walked, then a wild pitch moved runners to second and third. Perez hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Castillo.
They score a run to bring them with in one run, but then they just lay an egg and give up three runs on mistakes. Haerther leads off a single to center. The Cougars bring in Dan Fyvie to reliever Drew Friedberg. Evans singled down the line to left. Parker singled to left to score Haerther. Rosenthal would ground one to the pitcher, he would throw to third to get Evans out for the first out of the inning. Dryer would pop out to right. Santor doubled to left to score both Parker and Rosenthal. Milko Jaramillo who had come in for Boyer the last inning, would strike out to end the inning.
The Cougars showed some spark in the top of the ninth scoring one run. Appert would walk to led thing off. Snyder lined out to center. Kim singled to center. Castillo then singled to left to score Appert. Majewski hit into a double play to end the game.
